Joel Bremner's sight-reading curriculum is a new and innovative music education method for teaching sight-reading and developing musicianship in young students. I have been using The Choir Reader for a year and it's very user friendly. I have used it for my SMART Goal and have seen marked improvement. It's well worth the money!

I am currently using this curriculum and it is perfect for high school students. Each lesson gets harder, but at a slow pace so every student can succeed. It is designed to have multiple sight-singing levels for your more advanced students. It includes assessments as well. I highly recommend this curriculum!

The Choir Reader provides examples that increase in difficulty sequentially, which makes it efficient to track growth and progress. It's a great tool for SMART goals and teacher evaluations, and it is also a great self-assessment for students so that they can see what level they are and track their own improvement.

The Choir Reader has been a great tool. The progressive practice of reading something new in solfege every class period has stretched my students beyond what they imagined they could do and given them increased confidence in learning their repertoire. I look forward to seeing their continued progress this year and am hoping that next year they are able to inspire and help any new chorus students to also grow in their reading ability.

When I came into college as a music major the sight singing skills gained from The Choir Reader aided me tremendously. The aural skills classes in college seemed to be much smoother for me than it was for many of the other students.

I had the unique opportunity of experiencing The Choir Reader from the perspective of a student and then later as a teacher’s assistant. I believe this speaks volumes of the program by itself because in the course of 4 months I escalated from learning the beginning stages of sight reading to a level of proficiency of being able to instruct younger singers. Many of my college classmates struggled with courses involving sight-reading, whereas I was quite comfortable and confident and excelled within the program. I believe this program is suitable for singers of all ages and levels and that it will undoubtedly develop and improve their sight reading ability!

Thank goodness for The Choir Reader! Before I entered high school, I had no foundation or system to successfully sight-read. Thanks to Mr. Bremner’s program, after one year, I had mastered solfege and was able to sight-sing basic melodies independently. After just four years, I mastered the ability independently sight-read complex rhythms, advanced key signatures, and compound meters. As a current music major at a conservatory, The Choir Reader has prepared me for the high level of sight reading ability expected in professional settings.
